I had meant to stay at a picturesque Bed and breakfast or something like that. But the Hudson Valley is crowded with visitors at this time of year. I opted for the Super8 as it was near where I needed to be and it was inexpensive. The front desk staff (and indeed all of the staff) was friendly and courteous. The room was clean. I felt quite safe in this motel which is important as I was coming and going at late hours. The breakfast bar was toast, sweet rolls and cereal but this was adequate for my needs. There are several stores and restaurants nearby. I was concerned as I had seen some negative reviews but the motel must have cleaned up its act. I had a nice stay there.

I made a reservation for a room at this hotel on April 16th, 2008 through this very website. I received confirmation the same day, via email and then never heard another thing about it. Upon our arrival on Sept. 29th, 2008, we discovered an extensive renovation taking place that had apparently begun only a week and a half earlier. Since we were not informed and fearing we would not find another hotel room available because of a very large local event, we decided to go ahead and take the room since no actual work in the way of painting, etc. had actually been done in it. I have never stayed in a hotel/motel anywhere in the world that was as bad as this experience and am unlikely to stay in a Motel 8 EVER AGAIN! The general manager, was of little help, but agreed to knock a few dollars off only our last nights stay. It was still a ridiculous price to pay for the roof over our heads. The room was dirty & dusty, the rug stained, there was a soft spot in the bathroom floor that was rotted under the vinyl from years of water coming out of the shower, the shower rod was about to fall down, the sink faucet was very difficult to turn on and off. A pole lamp standing in one corner, couldn't even be plugged in anywhere, for lack of sufficient wire and available outlets. However, the worst thing about the stay was the lack of service. The breakfast bar was set up in an equally dirty room on the 1st floor, amongst the dust and debris of the ongoing renovations, the air in the hallways and stairwells was equally dust filled and horribly smelling from the spray on texturizing, and paint. No attempt to clean the rugs was ever made, and white powder and paint lay on the stairs 24 hours a day. The workmen/women all seemed to smoke just out side the front door and the odor from this just wafted into all the hallways. In the three nights we were there, our beds were never even made up, never mind clean linens ever being offered. Sorry, but I've never been in a hotel anywhere where they didn't, at the very least, make up the beds.... and no, we did not leave any belongs on or anywhere near the beds.... although this would hardly be grounds to NOT make a bed in any other hotel in the world. I am so outraged and intend to write negative reviews about this motel on every travel site I can find! No thanks Wyndham, I won't be accruing any reward points anytime soon and it will take some time to patch the whole in my wallet for the $* I shelled out for this dis-pleasure!

this was by far my worst experience at a Super 8 Hotel. The rooms were not vacuumed, the bathtubs were unclean and after complaining twice we were finally given a room with a filthy toilet that we cleaned ourselves.
